Vitesse will start the 2025-26 season with a 12-point deduction. The Arnhem club lost its appeal against the points penalties imposed in April.
The Licensing Appeals Committee found that Vitesse failed to comply with its reporting obligations in a timely and complete manner. This results in a new penalty for the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club. Vitesse open the season on Saturday, August 9th, with an away match against Almere City and will be deducted 12 points.
In the committeeโs eyes, Vitesse were late providing the debt assumption agreement between the five former shareholders and Common Group.
โThis news is painful,โ said general manager Timo Braasch on the clubโs website. โWe had hoped to start the new season with a clean slate.โ
The club say it is still studying the ruling and considering it. In the meantime, Vitesse is awaiting the licensing committeeโs response regarding the proposed decision to revoke the professional license.
