Vitesse hoping to appoint Phillip Cocu as their new manager

Vitesse have decided that they want to make Phillip Cocu their new manager and are in talks with the former Netherlands international.

The Eredivisie side are in need of a new manager after Thomas Letsch left for Bochum, and Waalwijk’s Joseph Oosting initially seemed most likely to take the reigns.

However, according to De Gelderlander, the club wants a bigger name and has therefore decided to try and get Cocu, who certainly fits that requirement.

The publication states that they’ve been informed by their sources that the two parties are currently holding talks, and that Vitesse chose not to comment when approached by them.

It’s a move that would make sense for both the club and the manager on paper. He has done well in the Eredivisie before, winning the league with PSV, and is looking to rebuild his managerial reputation after largely disappointing spells at Galatasaray and Derby.
