Vitesse’s season kicks off tonight as they face Jong AZ in Alkmaar. Manager Rüdiger Rehm isn’t just playing for show, as he explained on VI PRO.
Rehm and his team start the Keuken Kampioen Divisie season with minus 12 points. However, the German is very clear about what we can expect from him and his group.
“What we experienced at the Korenmarkt certainly ensures that my team will give absolutely everything for the fans and the club on Friday. I’m convinced of that.
“We expect ourselves to play well in as many matches as possible and to develop a team with a future. We expect to continue the work at the academy, so that everyone who comes to Vitesse knows they have a chance of making the first team.”
Rehm is wary of the league table’s situation and cut a determined figure. “We have to look at that too. It’s clear we’re playing to win. I’ve told the boys that too. We’re not going to Alkmaar to greet everyone, say hello, and then just leave the points behind. No. We’re going to Alkmaar to win.”
