Vincent Kompany pushing to bring Antwerp’s Manuel Benson to Burnley

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is pushing to sign Manuel Benson from Antwerp, with the English club offering €4 million for his services.

The winger, who got five goals and six assists for Antwerp last season, recently admitted to Het Laatste Nieuws that there had been interest from Kompany’s new side, among others.

“Burnley’s interest has now come out but there are still a few [other] clubs who have enquired,” he said.

“By the way, I also have conversations with Antwerp. My contract runs here for another year and there is an option [to renew] in it.

“If nothing changes, I’ll just keep doing my best.”

Now, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that a new bid, amounting to €4 million has been placed by Kompany and co.

Given Benson is in the last year of his contract and hasn’t said he wouldn’t be interested in such a move, it seems likely that it will go through.
