Vincent Janssen “proud” of call up to Netherlands World Cup squad

Antwerp’s top scorer Vincent Janssen was called up to the Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup 2022 in Qatar. As reported by Voetbalkrant, the player has said “I feel especially proud, this is a great moment in my career and I am really looking forward to it”.

Janssen has scored 8 goals and provided three assists in 16 matches for the Great Old this season, who currently lie in 2nd place in the Belgian Pro League table. The Dutch striker joined Antwerp in the summer from Mexican side Monterrey, where he scored 24 goals in 94 appearances.

Janssen was confident that he would make it into the final 26 man squad.

Noa Lang of Club Brugge also made it into the 26 man squad, despite him having to settle for sporadic starting appearances and coming off the bench. The former Ajax player has only scored once in 11 matches in the league, providing two assists.

The Netherlands will face Senegal, Ecuador and Qatar in Group A.
