Arthur Vermeeren makes RB Leipzig move permanent

RB Leipzig have announced the permanent signing of Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren (19) from Atlético Madrid. The news comes after the club activated the obligation to buy the on-loan midfielder after “a certain number of appearances”.

The initial loan-to-buy deal was agreed last summer and now the 19-year-old joins RBL from Atléti on a contract until 2029.

The six-time Belgium international has made 22 competitive appearances so far at Leipzig and recorded his first assist against Werder Bremen at the weekend. Before his stint in Germany and Spain, Vermeeren came up through the ranks of Royal Antwerp.

There, he made 65 appearances and helped the club win a trifecta of trophies: the league title, Belgian Cup, and Belgian Super Cup in the 2022-23 season.
