John van den Brom is ‘terribly angry’ after his dismissal from Vitesse. The trainer expressed his concerns about the club to Omroep Gelderland, where he described the situation as ‘one big puppet show’.
“Timo Braasch, the director, wanted to take me for a walk. We did that at Papendal. But we quickly turned around again”, Van den Brom begins. Apparently, he was not given any reasons for his departure.
“He only has to deliver the message. The board had made this decision, I was told. But I was not given any arguments. Really zero. I am also really terribly angry. They are just pushing aside an icon of the club. That hurts.”
“They don’t have to worry about me,” Van den Brom continues. “I’ll be fine, and I’ve been in football for so long. But I am very worried about the club. That has been confirmed again. There is no communication. Nobody knows where they stand. That’s not nice. And that’s not how it should be in an elite sporting climate.”
“And yet I don’t regret joining last summer. This is my club. I put all my energy and time into it, but I didn’t get the appreciation you would expect. I wasn’t involved in anything. I’ve said before, this wouldn’t be my way.”
