Following an impressive performance against Excelsior, which featured a rare hat-trick of assists, the battle for FC Utrecht left-back Souffian El Karouani has truly begun.
Russian side Spartak Moscow, which had previously contacted Utrecht, have made an initial offer, according to sources close to the Domstedelingen.
According to Jeroen Kapteijns, FC Porto and Olympique Marseille have also previously expressed interest, but the Russian top club is so far the most concrete. According to the sources, the offer would include a total package of around โฌ5 million, plus a fixed amount of โฌ3 million and other potential bonuses.
The 24-year-old El Karouani is only under contract until the summer of 2026, and FC Utrecht must sell him this summer or in January to prevent a free transfer. A possible contract extension is possible too, not especially if El Karouaniโs desired option doesnโt come through this week.
