Unstoppable: Former Borussia Dortmund winger Thorgan Hazard enjoying his best campaign in over seven years

Thorgan Hazard is on fire at the moment. After a hat-trick against Zulte Waregem last weekend, the former Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach forward grabbed another two goals and an assist as Anderlecht beat OH Leuven 5-1 on Saturday. The 32-year-old Hazard has taken some time to really show his class in the Belgian Pro League for Anderlecht, but he is now on course for his best season since the 2018/2019 campaign.

In 33 games this season, Hazard has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists. For reference, he had only managed eight assists and six goals in 52 games for Anderlecht over the past two seasons. This is also more goals scored for Hazard than at any time during his few years with Borussia Dortmund. Back in 2018/2019, he scored 13 goals and grabbed 11 assists for Borussia Mönchengladbach over 35 games. His best assist return was for Borussia Dortmund the following year, where he provided 14 assists in 43 games.

Hazard is clearly enjoying his time back in the Pro League at Anderlecht now, and it has come at the right time. The side need the likes of Hazard to propell them into the top six and have a chance at securing European football. With plenty of time to spare, Hazard could emulate his previous best ever season, which came during the 2013/2014 Pro League campaign. Hazard was then playing for Zulte Waregem and across 53 games in both Belgium and Europe he scored 17 goals and provided 17 assists.
