Union St Gilloise part ways with former MK Dons and Swansea loanee defender

Union St Gilloise have announced that they have agreed a mutual termination of the contract they have with 22-year-old defender Matthew Sorinola. The former MK Dons defender joined the club in the summer of 2021 and went on to make 16 appearances for the side, scoring once. Last season he spent the year on loan with Swansea in the EFL Championship, playing 31 games and scoring twice.

Since returning to Brussels in the summer, Sorinola has struggled to break into the first team. The signings of Alessio Castro-Montes and the emergence of Casper Terho means that Sorinola has fallen further down the pecking order. His original contract with the club had been due to expire in the summer, but now he is free to find a new club in January. There should be plenty of options in England for the young defender who began his career in the Fulham Academy. He joined the MK Dons academy in the summer of 2017.
