HLN have revealed that OH Leuven have two names high on their list of replacements for David Hubert. Understandably, the side was not prepared for the departure of their head coach to defending champions Union St Gilloise, a move which took nearly everyone by surprise. As such, they have had to start from scratch, although some may also believe that Hubert could have been under pressure at the club anyway after a poor start, so perhaps a list should have been prepared anyway.
Two names at the top are Timmy Simmons and Felice Mazzu. The former spent last season at Westerlo, where he only lasted one season before being replaced. Prior to that, Simmons had been with Zutle Waregem and Dender. It was at the latter that he had great success, with a shock promotion to the Pro League two seasons ago.
Mazzu has not had much joy since leaving Union for Anderlecht a few seasons ago. He failed to repeat his success with Unionโs city rivals and has since been in charge of both Charleroi and Sint Truiden. Neither were positive spells, so a move to OH Leuven may be one of his last chances to prove he can coach at the top level of Belgian football still.
OH Leuven are not expected to make any decisions prior to this weekends clash with high flying KV Mechelen.
