Twenteโ€™s Pjaca listened to Croatian legend ahead of move to Enschede: โ€œHe said my playing style would fit perfectlyโ€

Marko Pjaca sought advice from fellow countryman Ivan Perisic before deciding to sign for FC Twente, Geert-Jan Jakobs of VI reports.

The PSV player called Twente a well-set-up team and also spoke positively about the Eredivisie. โ€œIt was a difficult decision,โ€ says the 30-year-old Croatian, who scored for Twente on his debut.

โ€œI took my time. This is an important phase in my career, and I had to make the right choice. I had quite a few options, including on other continents. But I wanted to stay in Europe because thereโ€™s a World Cup coming up.โ€

Before making his decision, Pjaca, who was on a free transfer at the time, spoke with Perisic. โ€œHe gave his opinion about the team. (He said) that FC Twente were a tough opponent for PSV, a well-organised and physically strong team. Ivan said that with my playing style, I would be a perfect fit for the Eredivisie. Because itโ€™s a league with attractive, attacking football. He likes that; Iโ€™m the same kind of player.โ€

โ€œIvan advised me to come here and wished me luck after I signed my contract. This was the best choice I could have made. I want to be valuable here with my experience and stability.โ€
