Transfer imminent? Adrien Trebel spotted in the stands at Gent against Charleroi

As reported by Het Nieuwsblad, Anderlecht’s 31 year-old midfielder Adrien Trebel was spotted last night watching Gent against Charleroi at the Ghelamco. Gent coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck has been an admirer of the midfielder for some time, and with Anderlecht looking to move on from expensive contracts the time for Trebel to move to Gent could be as soon as this transfer window.

Former Nantes player Trebel joined Anderlecht from rivals Standard Liege in the winter of 2017. He fell out of favour a few times in his six seasons with the Mauves, spending half of last season on loan in Switzerland with Lausanne. Trebel played 16 games for the Swiss side, scoring one goal.

Under Felice Mazzu the midfielder was given another chance with Anderlecht. This season he has played 14 times, but it appears that the club will be willing to let the midfielder go during the winter window.

The side are currently looking to replace top scorer Fabio Silva, who is set to join PSV. Former OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry appears to be their preferred choice. The club has already seen one departure, with young prospect Anouar Ait El Hadj joining leaders Genk.
