Toby Alderweireld joins Romelu Lukaku in Thierry Henry support

HLN are reporting that Antwerp defender Toby Alderweireld would like to see Thierry Henry succeed Roberto Martinez as the new Red Devils head coach. Alderweireld joins Inter striker Romelu Lukaku in publicly supporting Henry as the new national team coach. Martinez, who had been in charge for six years, left the role following a disappointing World Cup campaign which saw Belgium knocked out during the group stages.

Henry has been the head coach of a club twice, the first being a short stint with Monaco before taking over at Montreal Impact. He is currently an assistant coach with the Red Devils, his second stint with the national team.

The Belgian FA have put together a taskforce to appoint the new head coach. It was also revealed that as part of this process, players such as Lukaku and other senior members of the squad would be consulted on the decision.
