Tijjani Reijnders not involved in friendly match with AZ Alkmaar as the midfielder closes in on move to AC Milan

Tijjani Reijnders is not involved in AZ Alkmaar’s pre-season friendly game against Standard Liège today. Fabrizio Romano reports that the midfielder is expected to join AC Milan soon. Negotiations between AZ and Milan are advancing after a second official bid worth €20m plus add-ons was submitted by the Serie A side. Reijnders wants to make the move to Milan.

Reijnders featured 54 times last season as AZ finished fourth in the Eredivisie and reached the semi-final of the Europa Conference league. The 24-year-old centre midfielder was part of the squad that knocked Serie A side Lazio out of the Conference League in the round of 16. Reijnders scored eight goals and provided 11 assists last season.

AC Milan have recently lost a star midfielder in Sandro Tonali to Newcastle. The departure has left an open slot in the squad for Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutchman could be a brilliant signing for the Italian giants.
