Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that KV Mechelen have a three man shortlist as they look for a replacement for Besnik Hasi. Former head coach Wouter Vrancken is on the list, while former Antwerp and Westerlo head coach Jonas De Roeck is also there. Another name on the list is current Charleroi head coach Rik De Mil.
In the past decade or so the sides best moments came during Vrancken’s tenure at the club, with the side winning the cup. Vrancken has since managed Genk and Gent, leaving the latter this season. De Roeck almost joined the side last year, but ended up picking Antwerp instead. He was sacked a few weeks ago despite securing a top six finish.
De Mil is the least likely of the three options, being under contract with his current side Charleroi until 2026. He is only willing to leave if the project on offer is enticing, which at the moment would rule Mechelen out, given that would be a sideways move. In any event, Mechelen are likely going to have to wait until the summer.
