Three in a row for Steve Bould’s Lommel moves City Group side into promotion places

Lommel grabbed their third win on the bounce in the Challenger Pro League to jump over Deinze into the automatic promotion places. The side, backed by the City Group, are two points behind leaders Beerschot and two ahead of the aforementioned Deinze.

Despite going a goal down at home to Anderlecht Futures through Keisuke Goto, the side responded well. Sam de Grand grabbed the equaliser in the 25th, with Lucas Schoofs making it 2-1 10 minutes later. With time running down, Brazilian striker Arthur Sales grabbed a third to make the game safe. With wins over Francs Borains and RFC Liege in recent weeks, Lommel have taken advantage of sides around them having indifferent form.

Sales, with nine goals, has been in fine form this season, while de Grand has performed well from left-back with six assists. However, the star of the team has certainly been young Hungarian winger Zalán Vancsa. The 19-year-old has scored 10 goals and grabbed five assists in 26 games for the club this season. He has already earned one senior cap for the Hungarian national team and if he can continue to develop over the next few years, he should end up with plenty more by the end of his career.
