Genk have announced that Thorsten Fink has signed a contract extension at the club. The former Sint Truiden head coach only joined in the summer of 2024 and has led the side to the top of the Pro League. Genk have decided to reward him for the sides performances so far with a new contract ahead of the play-offs, with the side in pole position to try and win a first title since 2019. They will start the play-offs with a four point lead over second place Club Brugge.
Fink has won 70% of the games he has managed for Genk so far, with an impressive points per game of 2.3. It was clear at Sint Truiden last season that Fink is a very talented coach who works well with young players, a great fit for a Genk side who invest heavily in bringing players through from the academy. Strangely, the club announced that the contract extension for Fink and the rest of his key staff members is for an ‘indefinite’ period of time.
