Thorgan Hazard joins PSV Eindhoven from Borussia Dortmund on loan

Thorgan Hazard has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan from Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season, the Eredivisie club has announced.

The Belgian winger, 29, comes to the Philips Stadion has Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side look to bolster their attack having lost top scorer Cody Gakpo and winger Noni Madueke to Premier League clubs this month.

After making the transfer, the brother of Real Madrid player Eden said how he is looking forward to wearing the shirt as they look to rejuvenate their title challenge.

He said: “It is a beautiful club with a beautiful shirt. PSV is still participating in the league, the cup and in Europe. I am really looking forward to the big races.”

The signing will be seen as a boost with PSV struggling to recruit replacements for Gakpo and Madueke who have both played a crucial role for Van Nistelrooy’s side for the first-half of the season.

Gakpo left at the start of the transfer window for around €40 million transfer to Premier League club Liverpool while Madueke joined Graham Potter’s Chelsea for around €35 million.

Director of football Marcel Brands has spoken of his delight of Hazard’s arrival as they finally bolster their attacking options for the second half fo the season.

He said: “Thorgan is a versatile player and he can play in several positions. He also has a lot of international experience.”
