Thierry Henry’s second stint with the Belgian National team ends after Domenico Tedesco appointed

As the Belgian FA announced the new national team head coach Domenico Tedesco, they also confirmed that former Arsenal and Barcelona star Thierry Henry will not be returning as a coach. Henry joined Roberto Martinez’s staff for a second stint over the last few tournaments and was touted by a few of the current stars to be the next head coach. Both Romelu Lukaku and Toby Alderweireld put their names behind the Frenchman. However, is it the Italian-German former RB Leipzig manager Tedesco who has been given the role.

Other names alongside Henry were linked with the role, such as Rafa Benitez, Andrea Pirlo and Andre Villas-Boas.

Alongside Tedesco, the FA also announced that Franky Vercauteren is returning to the Red Devils set up. The ‘Little Prince’ will take on the role of technical director, a position that Martinez had also been in while being the head coach. Both must now work together to reinvigorate a national team that has seen the end to its ‘Golden Generation’ after a disappointing performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
