Thibaut Courtois, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku to be consulted on future Red Devils coach

Rumours have been circulating that Thibaut Courtois, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku will be consulted on the next head coach of the Red Devils. In an interview with Sporza, Belgian FA CEO Peter Vandenbempt confirmed that the players would be consulted, however he was keen to indicate that they will not be able to determine who the new coach will be, with that decision being down to the CEO and technical director.

Only one name has been rumoured, that of current Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal. Van Gaal, when responding to the rumours, did not deny interest but was keen to remain focused on his current role.

The Belgian FA has set up a taskforce to appoint a successor to Roberto Martinez, who ended his six years as Red Devil’s head coach after the disappointing 2022 World Cup campaign. Any new Red Devil’s head coach will be without Eden Hazard, who also decided to end his time with the national team after the World Cup departure.
