Belgium will face Mexico on the 1st of April in the second of their two friendlies this March. The side put in a strong second half performance against another of the World Cup 2026 hosts at the weekend, with a 5-2 win over the United States. The USMNT had taken the lead through Weston MacKennie, but Zeno Debast equalised just before half-time. In the second half, the Red Devils scored four without reply before Patrick Agyemang pulled one back late on for the hosts.
Speaking to the media after the game, Rudi Garcia saw plenty of positives in how his side performed, as well as a few areas to work on. Of their opponents, Garcia said โThe USMNT is better than this result suggests, we started poorly, they were more aggressive. But I am very satisfied with our responseโ.
One area of concern for Garcia came in how the goals were conceded. One came rom a set piece, an area that the Red devils appear to be vulnerable in. Garcia is keen to look into why that happens, although he did also admit the side lack some athleticism that would help in this area.
Mexico will be another big test for the Red Devils away from home, but their victory over the USMNT will certainly have boosted the confidence of the players.
