The final straw: Charleroi fans show their dissatisfaction with performances in training ground stunt

Charleroi’s players and staff turned up to training on Friday morning to be met with a banner that read ‘Bon App’ Les Cheures’, which roughly translates to enjoy your meal goats. Fans of the club had arrived early and dumped a load of straw at the entrance to the training ground, as well as covering the facilities changing rooms in the straw. Fans are making a reference to tame goats, something they believe the players and staff have shown themselves to be this season.

Pictures provided by Het Nieuwsblad show how the fans were able to fully cover the changing rooms in the straw. They are deeply unhappy that the side have ended up in the bottom four and could be relegated this season. The clubs response to the situation was to part ways with Felice Mazzù earlier this week.

Yet for the fans, the head coach was not entirely to blame for the situation. The main focus of their anger is Mehdi Bayat, who has been in charge of the sporting decisions at the club for some time. Over the past two seasons the side has recruited poorly, never really replacing Vakoun Bayo after his move to Watford. Their lack of goals is one of the main reasons they are in the relegation play-offs this season.
