Telstar set to bolster defence with Anderlecht loanee

HLN are reporting that relegation threatened Telstar will sign Cedric Hatenboer on loan from Anderlecht until the end of the season. Hatenboer has struggled for playing time in Brussels and will now get to return to the Eredivisie to join Telstar. The surprise winners of the promotion play-off last season, Telstar have understandably struggled to avoid being involved in a relegation battle. However, given their size and financial situation, the club have done well to remain competitive throughout the first stage of the Eredivisie season.

Hatenboer should certainly help Telstar defensively. The now 20-year-old joined Anderlecht for a few million Euros last summer from Excelsior. He has spent most of his time with the second team in the Challenger Pro League. Anderlecht still clearly believe that the defender can develop into a first team player in the future, as they have not included a payment option in the deal. Antwerp were also said to be interested, but Telstar have won the race to bring Hatenboer in.
