Teddy Teuma set for France as Stade de Reims and Union St Gilloise near agreement

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Union St Gilloise and Reims are nearing an agreement on the transfer of Teddy Teuma. The Maltese international has been captain of Union for the past few seasons and is a fan favourite, however he has indicated that he would like to leave to play in France. Union are hoping for €6m, but it remains to be seen if Reims will pay that fully or include bonuses that could reach that amount if triggered.

Teuma will certainly go down as a legend for the Brussels side. He helped them return to the top flight and twice led them to within touching distance of their first title since 1935. Since joining from Red Star in January of 2019, Teuma has made 164 appearances for the side and scored 30 goals.

The central midfielder began his career in France and feels he has a point to prove by going back and showing what he can do in Ligue 1. Reims head coach Will Still will certainly know what Teuma can bring to his side from his time in Belgian football.
