Talented teenager Lars Montegnies rejects contract offer to move to another Pro League side

Eyebrows were raised when 17-year-old Lars Montegnies started in central midfield for Kortrijk against Gent to open the season. The move was even more of a surprise when it was revealed that the teenager did not have a professional contract with the club, playing on his youth contract. Kortrijk have since offered Montegnies a first professional contract, however he has turned it down and looks set to join Anderlecht instead. It is expected that the midfielder will spend this season with Anderlecht Futures in the Challenger Pro League.

This is just another blow for the Kerels, who are bottom of the league and have not gained a single point from their four games. New signing Thierry Ambrose looks set to be out for the season with an injury that he sustained just 45 minutes into his debut against Eupen. However, better news has emerged in that the side may finally be under new ownership. Vincent Tan has been trying to sell all summer, and now it appears that Burnley’s owners will be taking over from the Cardiff City owner.
