Super Eagle carousel: Napoli looking at Gift Orban to replace Victor Osimhen

According to Voetbalkrant and Italian media, Napoli are one of two Italian sides taking a look at Gent’s Nigerian sensation Gift Orban. With the departure of Victor Osimhen likely in the summer, the side could bring in another Nigerian striker in Orban to replace him. AC Milan are the other club rumoured to be interested in the young striker.

Since joining Gent in January from Norway, Orban has been on a goal scoring tear. He recently scored a quickfire hat-trick away to Istanbul BaÅŸakÅŸehir in the Europa Conference League as Gent won 4-1 away from home. In 10 games in all competitions for Gent he has scored 12 goals, including four against Zulte Waregem.

While Gent are keen to hang on to the 20-year-old striker, they have seen his value rise rapidly since they brought him in from the Norwegian second tier. The striker has said he eventually wants to play in one of the top five leagues and it would be unlikely Gent could hold off Napoli if they came calling.

The Belgian Pro League was coincidently the launch pad for Osimhen to make a name for himself. After 20 goals in 36 games for Charleroi while on loan from Wolfsburg, the Zebras made the move permanent and then sold the striker on to Lille.
