Standard Liege have been incredibly active this summer. Under new sporting director Marc Wilmots, the club have rebuilt the squad. Today they announced their 10th signing of the summer, with attacker Mohammed El Hankouri joining from Bundesliga 2 side Magdeburg. He is the third forward Standard Liege have signed this summer after Dennis Eckert Ayensa (whose loan mode was made permanent) and Thomas Henry. The latter scored on his debut as Standard Liege beat newly promoted RAAL 2-0.
El Hankouri has spent the last three seasons in Germany with Magdeburg. In that time he has played 73 games and scored 13 goals. Six of these goals came during the 2024/2025 campaign, alongside five assists. Prior to that, El Hankouri had a prolonged spell in Dutch football with FC Groningen, scoring six goals in 107 games. He had been part of the Feyenoord set up, but only made eight appearances for the side.
