Zulte Waregemโs trip to Standard Liege kicks off the return of the Belgian Pro League following the final international break of 2025. Both sides are just a few points off of the top six and could mount a challenge to make it into the top play-off.
Home side Standard have had an inconsistent time of it under head coach Vincent Euvrard. The former Dender and Zulte Waregem head coach is 10 games into his role at Standard and has four wins, one draw and five defeats. There is talent in the side, and players like Rafiki Said have certainly come to the fore in recent weeks. Standard have played 14 games this season, with five wins, two draws and seven defeats. They have only scored 13 goals, conceding 19.
While Standard came into the season hoping to finish in the top six, newly promoted Zulte Waregem would have settled for survival. However, they are just two points off of Mechelen in sixth and their form suggests they could be a real contender for the spot. Sven Vandenbroeck has got a star in Jeppe Erenbjerg, who has seven goals already this season. New striker Anosike Emanta has done more than stats suggest and the imposing forward has made a big impact on how the side play.
Zulte Waregem come into the game with just one defeat in all competitions in their previous five. Standard Liege have won three of their past five, with two defeats.
