Standard Liege set to make profit just months after signing Tottenham academy prospect after agreeing £2m transfer with Sunderland

Another one of Standard Liege’s summer transfers is set to leave the club. There was plenty of excitement when it was announced that former Tottenham Hotspur academy prospect Romaine Mundle would be making his way to Belgium to join Standard Liege. However, the winger was never given much of a chance in the first team and now according to Sky Sports looks set to return to the UK and join Championship side Sunderland.

The 20-year-old only made seven first team appearances for Standard, with another four for the second team in the Challenger Pro League, where he did manage to score two goals. The club are set to make a profit on the player though, with the fee believed to be in the region of £2m.

Mundle joins Isaac Hayden in returning to the UK despite only joining Standard in the summer. The Newcastle midfielder cut his loan spell with the club short and is considering legal action over unpaid wages.
