Standard Liege players wage payments delayed again under 777

HLN are reporting that Standard Liege’s players have no received their wages for April. This is not the first time that players wages have been delayed, as issues surrounding the finances of owners 777 continue to come to light. The club expect the payments to be made by the 9th of May, but it is clear that the uncertainty surrounding the club is having an impact on performances on the pitch.

During the play-offs, the side have not won a single game, with their most recent result being a 3-1 defeat away to OH Leuven. Given the allegations brought to light by the Athletic, the future of the club under the ownership of the 777 group looks incredible uncertain. The investors had been looking to buy Everton in recent months, but the prospect of that going through is incredibly slim.

This is not the first time this season that wages have been delayed, while the club has also been issued with two transfer bans due to other financial and logistical irregularities. Fans have been frustrated with how their club has been run and have protested against the American owners regularly this season.
