Standard Liege in talks with Nantes for Algerian left-back

LDH are reporting that Standard Liege are closing in on a deal with Ligue 1 side Nantes for left-back Jaouen Hadjam. The agreement will see the 20-year-old join on loan until the end of the season, with the Belgian side then having a purchase option of €1.5 m. The former Paris FC defender fits the bill of one of the areas Standard have been looking to strengthen this January, as they want more options for playing a four man defence.

Hadjam began his career with the Parisians, making 44 appearances between 2020 and the start of 2023. Nantes signed him last January and he has gone on to make 23 appearances for the side. However, so far this season he has featured just eight times, with all of these appearances coming off the bench. With just 107 minutes played, the defender is certainly on the hunt for more first team football this season. The former French youth international switched his allegiance to Algeria in March of 2023 and has gone on to make two appearances for the Fennec Foxes, both during the recent AFCON qualification tournament. However, he has not been called up to the side for the upcoming tournament.
