Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Standard Liege have won the race to sign Gustav Mortensen from Lyngby. The defender was also of interest to another Pro League side, Westerlo. However, Standard Liege have beaten their fellow Belgian club to agreeing a deal with Lyngby for the Danish youth international. Mortensen is set to have a his medical with Standard Liege tomorrow ahead of signing for over โฌ1m.
Mortensen has been a Lyngby player since making his debut as a teenager back in the 2020/2021 season. Last year he was sent out on loan to Vendsyssel FF in the Danish second tier. He played 31 games for the side, scoring once and grabbing two assists. Lyngby were relegated from the top flight of Danish football last season, but are currently top of the second tier. Mortensen has certainly played his part in their success so far this season, with 19 games played and two goals and assists provided.
Standard Liege are currently sixth in the Pro League and hoping to secure a top six finish and try and make a return to European football.
