Standard Liege (777) and RWDM (John Textor) given transfer bans

The Belgian FA has announced that both Standard Liege and RWDM are now banned from making transfers. Standard’s ban is expected to be lifted as soon as tomorrow, with the penalty being for a non payment of group insurance. The club, owned by 777, has made the payment and just need it to be officially accepted by the Belgian FA. 777 also have stakes in Italian side Genoa.

For John Textor’s RWDM, the ban comes in relation to a lack of payment made to Oostende for the transfer of Mickaël Biron last summer. The amount that is reported to be owed to the coastal club is €605k of the €2.5m transfer fee. RWDM have confirmed that the payment will be made, however it raises further questions about the goings on at the club after recent drama around leadership.

Textor is also the owner of French side Lyon and Premier League side Crystal Palace.
