Sparta Rotterdam sign left-back Django Warmerdam from FC Utrecht

Sparta Rotterdam have announced the signing of Django Warmerdam from FC Utrecht. The left-back has been restricted to making just six Eredivisie appearances for Utrecht this season due to a knee injury. The 27-year-old successfully passed his medical today and Sparta have confirmed the signing on their website.

Warmerdam has previously played for Jong Ajax, PEC Zwolle and FC Groningen. Last season he featured 26 times for Utrecht as they secured a 7th-place finish in the league. After spending three seasons at the club, he’s signed a two-year contract with Maurice Steijn’s Sparta Rotterdam. Warmerdam is set to replace Luxembourger left-back Mica Pinto at Sparta, who isn’t signing an extension contract with De Kasteelheren.

Already this month, Sparta Rotterdam have announced the signings of Pelle Clement and Saïd Bakari on free transfers from Waalwijk. FC Utrecht have already recruited a new left-back to replace Django Warmerdam. 22-year-old Souffian El Karouani will join from NEC Nijmegen at the end of the season.
