Tim Reedijk is reporting that Sparta Rotterdam have turned down an offer from Italy for their top scorer Tobias Lauritsen. There was contact between the club and Hellas Verona, but the offer that came in from the Serie A side was considered far too low by the club. It is now expected that the 26-year-old striker from Norway will remain in the Eredivisie until the end of the season.
Lauritsen has scored five goals in 18 games this season, as well as providing five assists. He began his career in Norway with Odd, making 111 appearances for the side between 2018 and 2022, scoring 21 goals. In the summer of 2022 he moved south to the Netherlands to join Sparta Rotterdam. Over the past season and a half he has played 59 games, scoring 20 goals.
The side are currently just inside the top eight with a three point lead over ninth place PEC Zwolle. The two sides face each other on Sunday the 4th of February.
