Voetbal International has revealed this week that Ajax could have two returning faces at the Johan Cruyff ArenA, with dynamic wing-back Borna Sosa and creative midfielder Dusan Tadic both highly positive around life back in Amsterdam.
Croatian international Sosa, discussed his future after his country’s 2-1 win over Scotland earlier this week. The defender is under contract with Ajax until the summer of 2028, but was loaned to Torino in the Serie A last summer. Before that, he was on many clubs’ radars with superb performances with VfB Stuttgart from 2018 to 2023. In an interview with Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, the 26-year-old spoke of his current situation after a tough first year in the Dutch capital:
“I wanted to go on loan, but after this year all options are open as far as I’m concerned. (…) It is great for me now in Turin. After a year at Ajax, where all sorts of things were going on, I finally have stability again. I know where I stand again.”
Ajax will be hoping this is true, as so far, opinions are mixed as to whether their eight million euro investment was worth it. He spoke of his struggles further, following his 2023 move under Sven Mislintat.
“Yes, I really wanted to be loaned out after I was demoted to Jong Ajax. I didn’t have a great year in Amsterdam. I hope this period in Italy will be good for me. If all goes well, Torino has the opportunity to take me on (permanently).”
Serbian midfield stalwart Dusan Tadic has also been another figure discussing a potential return to ‘de Godenzonen’. This time, however, the man who previously notched 241 Ajax appearances has only spoke about such regarding a potential future in coaching. In an interview with the Turkish outlet Tivibu Spor, the 35-year-old currently of Fenerbahce said:
“I want to become a trainer after my career and I received a nice offer from Ajax earlier. I could work there as a youth trainer or as an assistant with the first team. (…) It is still an option to start as a coach at one of the clubs I have represented. Who knows what the future will bring.”
