Sint-Truidense add offensive duo in Japanese ‘sniper’ and ‘flamboyant winger’

Sint-Truidense have announced their acquisition of Hiiro Komori (23) and Didier Lamkel Zé (28).

Described as a ‘true sniper’, Komori signs on loan following a stellar campaign in Japan’s J2 League, where he scored 23 goals for JEF United Chiba and was crowned the second division’s player of the season.

Sporting director André Pinto couldn’t hide his delight with the arrival of the new sharpshooter:

“Komori is a late bloomer, who first went to university before turning to professional football. We have been following his performances for some time and are convinced that he is ready to make the step to Europe. Our new attacker is technically gifted and is known for finishing well with both his left and right foot. Hiiro will help increase our goal tally.”

Cameroonian Lamkel Zé signs after a brief time in the cold following the end of his contract with Super Lig side Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey.

The second ‘new Canary’ boasts of Belgian experience, and will be well-known with his new club’s fans following spells with Royal Antwerp and KV Kortrijk amidst a CV that shows stints in France, Russia, and Turkey.

Pinto spoke about signing the 28-year-old:

“Lamkel Zé gives us additional options on the wing. We know that Didier has a lot of qualities as a footballer. And with Felice Mazzu we have an experienced coach who believes in him. That combination can provide fireworks on the field in the coming months.”

Currently 14th in the league, STVV see competition and depth in the first team selection as vital to climbing the first division table. Pinto continued:

“We have regularly shown good things in recent months, so we are certainly not throwing everything overboard. But of course, we want to climb the rankings quickly. That is why we are aiming for two players for each position and healthy competition within the core. This way, we can catch injuries early and everyone is on their toes for 2025. The homework is not yet done, though. Together with the coach, we are analyzing the performances and looking at how we can further strengthen the team.”
