Sint-Truiden’s striking department weakened as Daichi Hayashi joins 1. FC Nürnberg

1. FC Nürnberg have announced the signing of Daichi Hayashi on loan from Sint-Truiden for the 2023/2024 season. It has not been confirmed but there have been reports that there is a purchase option included in the deal. Hayashi scored eight goals for the Canaries last season and provided four assists.

With their top scorer from 2022/2023 Gianni Bruno returning to Gent, and unlikely to come back to Sint-Truiden, the striking department at the club is looking thin. Fatih Kaya is the only certainty in terms of who remains to play up front, meaning that there must surely be additions coming in the forward department. Kaya played 15 games for the club last season and failed to find the net.

So far the incomings have mainly been in defence, with Frederic Ananou and Bruno Godeau joining on free’s. They did also sign attacking midfielder Ryotaro Ito from Albirex Niigata from the J League. New head coach Thorsten Fink will be hoping for a few more new faces before the season starts.
