Sint-Truiden sign Japanese international Ryoya Ogawa on loan with purchase option

Sint-Truiden have announced the signing of Ryoya Ogawa on loan with a purchase option. The 26-year-old left-back has signed for the 2023/2024 season from FC Tokyo and will be known by the clubs new head coach Thorsten Fink who managed Vissel Kobe in the J League.

Last season Ogawa spent season on laon at Vitoria de Guimaraes in Portugal, where he made 11 appearances. At FC Tokyo, he made 173 appearances and scored six goals. Ogawa has also made five appearances for the Japanese national team.

Ogawa becomes Sint-Truiden’s fourth signing of the summer and their third defender. Bruno Godeau arrived from Gent, while Togolese international Frederic Ananou joined from Hansa Rostock. They did also sign attacking midfielder Ryotaro Ito from Albirex Niigata from the J League. 

However, they did lose Daichi Hayashi, who joined 1. FC Nürnberg on loan. It also appears last seasons top scorer Gianni Bruno, who was on loan from Gent, is set to leave Belgium to join Parma.
