Sint-Truiden set to sign Japanese international Jura Chima Fujita

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Sint-Truiden will shortly announce the signing of Japanese youth international Jura Chima Fujita. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder will join from Yokohama Marinos, a side he scored twice in 17 games for during the 2023 J League season. This is is the most goals that Fujita has scored in a single season for the side, bringing his total to three in 61 games.

Fujita has twice been capped by the Japanese senior team and could be in line for a place int he 2024 Olympics squad. The midfielder has also been capped at U23 and U21 level, being made captain for the latter.

Adding Fujita means that Sint-Truiden could go with midfield three that is entirely Japanese. The potential holding two would be Fujita and another summer signing in Rihito Yamamoto. These two would then be able to give licence to their third midfield signing of the summer Ryotaro Ito, who is likely to play in the number 10 role.
