Sint-Truiden set to sign former Schalke 04 and U20 Afcon winner Joselpho Barnes

HBVL are reporting that Sint-Truiden are set to announce the signing of Joselpho Barnes from Riga. The former Schalke 04 striker was also part of the Ghana U20 side that won the U20 African Cup of Nations in 2021. In Latvia, the 21-year-old has scored seven goals in 31 games, as well as providing four assists.

During his time with Schalke, Barnes spent his time with the youth side. For the U19 he made 39 appearances, scoring three and providing two assists. After his contract in Germany expired in 2021, he joined Riga.

Sint-Truiden lost a large amount of players at the end of the 2022/2023 season, with a number of players having their contracts expire without renewal. One player who recently did sign a new contract with the side was former Leicester City forward Shinji Okazaki. The 37-year-old agreed to a pay cut in order to remain with the club that he joined last summer after a few seasons in Spain.
