Sint-Truiden negotiating with USM Alger for captain Zineddine Belaid

According to HBVL, Sint-Truiden are currently in negotiations with USM Alger for the transfer of Zineddine Belaid. The 24-year-old Algerian international would bolster the Canaries defensive line, which is light on options at the moment. Belaid has been capped seven times by the Algerian national team. He was also captain of the USM Alger’s side that won the CAF Confederations Cup in 2023, the first time that the side had won the competition.

Belaid began his career with NA Hussein Dey, before making the move to the side from Algiers in the October of 2020. The 6’1 tall central defender has played 105 games for the side, scoring 10 goals. Prior to joining USM Alger, Belaid played just 23 games for NA Hussein Dey.

Sint-Truiden got their campaign off to a winning start against Standard Liege thanks to a rocket from Aboubakary Koita. the three points could prove crucial as the side are expected to be in a relegation battle this season.
