Sint-Truiden have begun to rebuild a defence that saw a number of key components leave after their contracts expired at the end of the season. Bruno Godeau has arrived from Gent on a free, with his contract not having been extended at the Buffaloes. The 31-year-old former Zulte Waregem, Westerlo, Oostende and Mouscron defender has played 280 games in Belgium, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists. Godeau brings defensive versatility, as he is able to line up as a central defender or as as left-back.
The side has also announced the signing of Togolese international Frederic Ananou. The 25-year-old can play at right-back or as a central defender as well, bringing another level of versatility to the Canaries defence. He played 20 games for Hansa Rostock this season as they remained in the 2. Bundesliga. The former German U20 has since been capped by Togo. Ananou began his career with Roda in the Netherlands, before returning to Germany to join FC Ingolstadt. He then spent two seasons with Paderborn 07 before joining Hansa for free in the summer of 2022.
