Siebe Van der Heyden set for La Liga transfer

Het Niuewsblad are reporting that Union St Gilloise central defender Siebe Van der Heyden is set for a move to Spanish side Mallorca. The side wanted to sign the 25-year-old last summer, but were unable to find an agreement with the Brussels side. Now, it looks like a fee in the region of €3m will be enough, with bonuses meaning it could eventually rise to €4m. Van der Heyden would be the third player to leave Union this summer after Teddy Teuma and Ismaël Kandouss, who have joined Reims and Gent respectively.

Van der Heyden, who has been capped once by the Belgian national team, joined Union in the summer of 2019. He began his career with Anderlecht, before joining Oostende and then moving across the border to FC Eindhoven. In the Netherlands he played 33 games before moving back to Belgium. During his time at Union, he played 117 games and scored three times as they returned to the top flight and twice went close to winning the league title.
