Sevilla set to beat Tottenham to signing Ajax talent Stanis Idumbo Muzambo

According to Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla are close to sealing the signing of Stanis Idumbo Muzambo from Ajax. The 2005-born talent has been on the radar of some top European clubs, and this week Tottenham Hotspur Sevilla submitted proposals for the Belgian midfielder. Sevilla are closing in on a permanent deal and the player is expected to travel to Spain soon.

Stanis Idumbo Muzambo recently decided to turn down a new contract offer at Ajax, as transfer speculation surrounding the Belgian youth international increased. So far this season, he’s featured 11 times for Jong Ajax in the Dutch second tier, scoring three times. Idumbo Muzambo has also risen through the ranks in Belgium’s youth teams, featuring five times for the U19s and six times for the U18s.

Ajax were keen to keep the youngster, but if they fail to sell him this January, he could end up departing the club as a free agent at the end of the season as a result of his contract expiring. Sevilla are currently 16th in the La Liga table and could do with a boost in attack. They’ve scored just 23 goals so far this season, and a young, hungry attacking midfielder like Stanis Idumbo Muzambo could help in that department.
