Schalke and Venezia interested in disgruntled Antwerp striker Michael Frey

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Schalke and Venezia a interested in signing want away Antwerp striker Michael Frey. Following his sides cup win over Genk, the Swiss striker declared he had played his final game for the club. Frey did not appear in the sides recent defeat to Union St Gilloise, with the player training alone for the week following his comments after the cup match.

HNB also report that Antwerp are reluctant to let the striker go in January, given his obvious qualities and the strength in depth he offers the side behind Vincent Janssen. Former Fenerbahce striker Frey has seven goals in 14 games this season in the league, following on from the 24 goals he scored last season. Janssen, on the other hand, had a slow start to his Antwerp career, but has began to find the net with regularity, grabbing 11 league goals in 20 matches, as well as a couple in the cup and European qualifications.
