Feyenoord head coach Brian Priske expects Santiago Giménez to return to action ‘soon’ after a lengthy period on the sidelines. The Mexican striker sustained a serious thigh injury in September which has ruled him out of the last 13 games. Finally, Priske has been able to provide a positive update on his star man.
‘Santi has pressured me all week to put him in this week’s game and next week,’ Priske said during Friday’s press conference. ‘He did all the training today and almost everything yesterday. He feels very good, but he’s missing a little before he’s completely available.’
Feyenoord face Robin van Persie’s Heerenveen on Saturday evening, a crucial opportunity for the Rotterdammers to rise back up the table. They’re currently fourth, behind PSV, Utrecht and Ajax. Injuries have been a big issue for Priske this season, but Calvin Stengs, Antoni Milambo and Julian Carranza are all expected to be available on Saturday.
