Sambou Soumano cuts Eupen loan short and returns to Lorient

Striker Sambou Soumano has cut his loan deal short with Eupen, returning to parent club Lorient yesterday. The Belgian club announced that both player and clubs had agreed that ending the loan deal prematurely was of benefit to all parties. Soumano played 8 games for Eupen, scoring once in a crazy 5-5 draw with fellow relegation strugglers Zulte Waregem.

Eupen’s summer signings have so far been a mixed bag, with both Jan Kral, now confirmed to have left on loan, and Jan Gorenc being allowed to leave the club.

Eupen are currently one place and one point above the relegation zone, having won just once in their last five games. This came against bottom side Seraing, but since then they have lost to Charleroi and Sint-Truiden at home. During the week they grabbed a draw against OH Leuven.

Eupen face league leaders Genk this weekend, who recently announced the signing of Anouar Ait El Hadj from Anderlecht.
