Ryotaro Ito and Jarne Steuckers guide Sint-Truiden to third win of the season

Sint-Truiden continued to entertain as they beat KV Mechelen 2-0 at home. It was Ryotaro Ito and Jarne Steuckers who delivered for the Canaries on Sunday evening, with the latter providing two assists. His first came after Ito had found him with a wonderful outside of the foot pass, with Steuckers finding an onrushing Daiki Hashioka to fire in off the post. Steuckers then provided the final pass from another flowing Sint-Truiden move to find Ito, who calmly wrongfooted Gaetan Coucke to make it 2-0.

Ito was at the heart of everything Sint-Truiden did well against Mechelen, and it was about time that his fine play this season was rewarded with a goal. For Steuckers, he had been the leagues leading provider of chances prior to this game, yet without the assist numbers to match. These were his first two assists of the season, with his play finally being rewarded with finishing from his teammates.

The Canaries were dealt a blow when striker Fatih Kaya went off injured just before the half an hour mark. Sint-Truiden are light on strikers, with Joselpho Barnes now the only one with real experience as an out an out striker.
